Ruffly belt

flowerbeltI love all the flower belts courtesy of J crew.

Well, I hopped over to 100 Layer Cake today and they had an amazing tutorial about how to make your very own ruffly belt.

Supplies: Ribbon (for the belt), fabric (silk and tulle for the petals), needle, thread

Make petals (go here to figure out how to do that), find the center of the belt and start to sew

Repeat until you have enough petals on your belt

I know my tutorial was definitely not full of enough info, but it let me show some pretty pictures, and that was worth it.  Head over to 100 layer cake if you want to figure out how to do it.

Ok, so from the beginning I was saying no to videography. I didn’t even look at any samples, possible vendors or read about it on wedding blogs. Well today that changed, and now I want a videographer. Crap. But seriously look at this video. I couldn’t help myself, I cried.

Ashley & Jamie’s Same Day Edit from Anguilla from Julie Hill on Vimeo.

I also really love anything from Still Motion.  Now I need to try to find a videographer in our budget, which was originally zero.  Awesome.  Maybe craigslist?

P.S. sorry the video doesn’t show up, but the link works, apparently wordpress doesn’t support vimeo.

Table Settings

I love the long table, and I’ve seen it at several weddings lately and I really want to steal the idea.   However, our wedding will have round tables just like a lot of other weddings.  There is nothing I can do about this, so I have to let it go, BUT then I stared thinking, wait, the rehearsal has somewhat long tables!  So my idea has not been crushed 🙂 Take a look at my inspiration from Sunday Suppers

Both images from Sunday Suppers

No, it’s not the purple flowers, it’s the burlap tablecloth and the simple mason jars!  Swoon!  I don’t have any idea where you acquire burlap tablecloths or if they are expensive, but they are absolutely gorgeous to me.

I even like them as table runners with a simple tablecloth.

Do you think my rehearsal dinner restaurant would care if I rolled in with some burlap I wanted to put on their tables??  Maybe.

100th Post!!

Wow! I’ve posted about my wedding and the details associated with it 100 times!! I can’t believe it! Does that sound kind of conceited?  Anyhoo, sorry for no post this morning, my weekend was fun and filled with lots of activities that the wedding sort of took a backseat to.  The good news is that I’m back 🙂

So if you’ve searched around the wedding blog world, you will know that silhouettes are very popular for any wedding paper product. And although I think they can be cute, it’s not really my thing. That is until I saw these from Le Papier Studio.

They are so precious!  If I wasn’t using one of our engagement photos for our save the dates, I would really consider this.  Speaking of save the dates, I really need to figure out a place that I can print 3X4 pictures.  I’m not sure why I’m set on that size, but I really am, so if you know where I can do this, please let me know.  I’ve tried snapfish and kodak gallery and the closest they had were wallets, which just won’t work.  Ideas, thoughts?  I need to get on the ball, these need to go out in Oct, and I need to assemble them with the help of my bridesmaids (thanks girls!) so time to order all the supplies.

Statement Necklace

Statement necklaces are everywhere, and I love them. I even stopped a lady in the bathroom the other day to tell her that I loved her necklace. I don’t know if I’m brave enough to wear one with my wedding dress, but I saw that this bride did on Southern Weddings, and it looked great!

And then I started to think maybe I could get one for my bridesmaids to wear as one of their gifts.  Here are some that I love

These are from Anthrpologie:

I haven’t even begun to look on etsy yet, but I’m sure there would be plenty there too.  My one fear is that this is a big trend, who knows if I’ll still love a statement necklace come april.  Hmm…

Signature Cocktail

At Marie Gabrielle, we get to choose a signature cocktail to be served during the cocktail hour.  I decided to come to you all to tell you my options and see what you think.  We get to choose from Martinis, Champagne Cocktails and straight up drinks.  When I first saw this list I immediately focused in on the champagne cocktails, but now as it’s had some time to sink in, I’m not so sure. So my top choices are:

the bellini-tini

This is vodka, peach schnapps, peach juice and champagne.  Yum.  And gorgeous.  I love bellinis.  It doesn’t go with my colors at all, but that’s ok.

The Mojito

I think we all know what’s in a mojito.  The plus of this drink is that it is in my colors, and it’s also delicious.

And lastly, the Cham-Cham

It’s champagne and chambord.  Yum.  I’m just worried it’s been done too much.

So what do you all think?  What should I go with?  I’m torn.

So yet another one of my bridesmaids has found her dress!!  Bridesmaid K was here a week ago and bought her dress online while sitting on my couch.  I haven’t seen it in person, but online it looks so cute!  It’s from Banana Republic

Only, that dress will not be worn with boring beige shoes.  And, best of all, it was only $130!
