Petticoats for the Flower Girls?

Yep, that’s right, I won’t be the only girl sweating underneath a large layer of clothing; my flower girls will be wearing petticoats, but not underneath their dresses.  The petticoats will be their skirts.  What will they pair with this beautiful skirt?  A cute white tank!  They are from Oopsy Daisy Baby and I am totally smitten by them.  Plus I know that every little girl loves a dress that twirls.  Look at how adorable they are:

What I can’t decide on is what color the rosettes should be on the tank.  Here’s a close up of the rosettes:

I didn’t see green rosettes as an option, the only green option is a green tank, but I would still want them to wear a white skirt.  What do you think?

I’m thinking we need green rosettes on a white tank.  What do you think?

The honeymoon!

Mr. Fro Yo is in charge of the honeymoon, and yes, he does know this. Has he done a lot of research on it yet? Not so much. I figured giving him fun things like honeymoon was the best way to go because we all know boys and planning weddings typically do not mesh well together. I tried to assign him DJs, and so far he’s still thinking about which sites he wants to use to search for DJs, but hasn’t actually searched. Hmm…

Anyway, but he did offer a suggestion for where to go for our honeymoon, Puerto Rico!  I was really excited about it, and hadn’t considered it previously. They use US currency, we don’t need a passport, and it’s a gorgeous beach with lots of activities should we decide we want to do more than lay around on the beach.  Just look at some of the beach photos

AND they have some luxury resorts with your very own swimming pool right outside your room

OR you could skip the resort thing (which we will probably do, because let’s be honest, we aren’t resort people), and you can stay in an entire rented house!

And they even have a waterfall right down the way from the house.  Plus you can go snorkling, kayaking, hiking, there are rain forests.  I mean, seriously this sounds amazing! The house,  is called Villa Sevilla, and it looks like a high contender right now.

An 18 year old mistake

You’re probably wondering what the hell I’m going to talk about with that title, but I promise it connects to the wedding. When I was 18 I decided that I wanted a tattoo. It wouldn’t have mattered what anyone said to me, I was doing it. I even went alone to get it done because I didn’t want anyone to try to talk me out of it. Which probably means on some level I knew I might regret it. Well fast forward 10 years later and I HATE it. I’ve hated it for quite a while too. It’s not that it’s gigantic, in fact its probably about the size of a quarter, but that doesn’t change my disdain for it. Do you hear what I’m saying 18 year olds?? DON’T! I know it probably won’t matter what I’m saying, but everyone I know that got a tattoo at 18 regrets it, so if you decide to do it, just know that. Anyway, so this tattoo is a source of stress for me for the wedding. Why? Well it’s on my shoulder in plain view for everyone to see, and I imagine people being distrated from my gorgeous dress and sweet details and staring at my horrible tattoo.

Ugh. So what’s a girl to do? Well, I’ve thought about using tattoo cover up make up.

But I really worry about it sweating off, or getting on my dress or veil, or even not providing enough coverage.

I’ve even considered bandaids because they seem like  a less distracting choice than the tattoo itself.

But they’re still unsightly.  At least I wouldn’t have to worry about them rubbing off and staining my clothes.

And then recently I started to look on etsy and found some super sweet boleros that maybe I could wear for the ceremony in addition to the bandaids or make up.  Here are some that I love from bonzie:

And then I found these from Rohm, also on Etsy

So what do you think?  Boleros too much just to cover up a tattoo?

It is a happy friday. I am about to head to Concan with my sister and nieces for the weekend. We will lay around and float in the cool water.  This means I won’t be around the blogging world this weekend, but I hope everyone has a great weekend!  Sunday Bobby and I will start to paint some of the rooms in our new house!  I’m looking forward to it all 🙂

Wedding Music

So I’m thinking that I want to do some non traditional music for the ceremony. I haven’t totally decided on the songs we’ll use, but I really want to do something that represents us, and the traditional songs really don’t.  Mr. Fro Yo and I both started to think about songs we would want to incorporate into our wedding and here are some that we came up with….

For the entrance of the bridal party, I’m thinking of Bitter Sweet Symphony by the Verve

And then for my entrance, I’m thinking of Thank You by Led Zeppelin

And then for our walk back down the aisle after we are already married, I’m thinking All You Need Is Love by the Beatles

And for our first dance I’m thinking of She’s Got A Way About Her by Billy Joel, though it will be sung by my college friend James.

Are there other songs you’ve heard at weddings that you’ve liked?

Wedding barn

I was recently telling a friend of mine that if I were to do a more casual wedding I would want to do it in a barn. A barn? Yeah, I know what you’re thinking but I’ve seen some amazing photos of people’s wedding in barns. I’m from Texas, so it’s not totally random for me to think of a barn. I really want to do a mix of vintage, rustic and some modern elements, and I think that would be pretty simple to do with a barn backdrop. I would easily be able to incorporate the mason jars, and then I would also have a reason to use a chalkboard, which I’ve been secretly loving. Just look at some of these amazing photos from Leigh Miller photography.

And, if I did the barn thing, I could use this gorgeous typewriter as my guestbook which I’ve also been secretly wanting to do.

My hair

I’m pretty certain that I want to wear my mantilla veil for the ceremony only and then put a hair flower in for the reception. I’m actually thinking I might try to make the hair flower (I’ll take pictures of the process once I tackle that project).

But what about the rest of my hair?  I’m thinking I want to wear my hair half up, but I have been drawn to some of the more lose updos.  Here’s what I’m thinking for updos… (all photos from project wedding)

I think sticking a hair flower in any of those would be easy and so pretty!  The thing is, I’ve been growing my hair out for this wedding, so why not show that off?  So here’s the half up options:

(is that Kelly Kapowski?)

My hair is naturally curly, so it should hold the curl well all night even though it’s mostly down.  Also, my dress is strapless, so I would like to have some hair down to cover up all the bare skin. Which style do you like best?

Invites and then some

So I am extremely stressed right now for reasons unrelated to my wedding.  For those of you that know me,  know what’s going on, and right now is probably not the best time to share it on the blog.  I want this to reflect my planning process in its entirety, so I will share in time.  For now, searching and looking at wedding inspiration while these stressors in my life taint this process has been difficult for me.  We are so happy and I don’t want any negativity to creep in.  I will continue to post, and try to do so everyday, but please understand if Imiss a day or so.  This blog has been such a creative outlet for me and let me organize my thoughts so well, and I seriously love writing everyday.  And I love reading everyone’s comments.  They always make me smile.

Anyway, I just wanted to share, but moving on now…I found these invites and thought they were so sweet and heartfelt.  Our relationship was much different than this couple, so something like this would not work for us.  But, if I got that invite in the mail I would be so excited to attend the wedding.  You know all the details will reflect exactly who the couple is.

Even the RSVP card is unique.  I love it!

What will we do for the big send off? Your guess is as good as mine. I have some ideas of things I’m considering, but nothing is a definite yet.

I like the idea of petals.

But I know it can be costly, can stain clothing and it’s pretty traditional. Which I like to think I’m not.

I also like bubbles.  I think they make gorgeous photos, and my sister used them, so they hold a special place in my heart.

Did you see that old man? Adorable!

And then there is ecofetti, which is newer and safe for the environment, but still makes a cute photo.

I also recently heard about people using lavendar.  And then when people step on it, it releases a yummy, calming fragance into the air.

Spaklers are also popular, and definitely make for some gorgeous photos.

Look at that LOVE image, precious!

And lastly I’ve heard of people using poms.  I think they are so cute!  And sort of vintage.

You see that last picture?  Yep, they make a mess, and would require clean up.  But I really like that I haven’t seen anyone use them before.

Bridesmaid Variety

So you’ve heard me talk previously about letting the girls choose their own dress, but I don’t think I told you that was the way I was going to go. But it is! Look how great it looks for people to be able to choose their own, and to have some variety in the wedding party.

The dresses in the first image are from Australian designer Rose and Ruby.

Speaking of dresses though, one of my bridesmaids (and future sister in law) already got her dress and shoes!  Way to go Katherine!  She did a little shopping in Houston, stopped in the Jessica McClintock store and found a gorgeous dress.

I can’t find a picture of the dress in grey, though I promise the one she got is grey, not blue.
